The Salty Crisp by Milly Aburrow
Artist behind the bar

The Salty Crisp Pub, presented as part of Milly Aburrow's graduate residency, was on display at 44AD Artspace, located in the heart of Bath's city centre. This captivating installation pays homage to the quintessentially British public house-rich in history, filled with memories, and a place where new stories are forged. Inspired by her personal connection to The Star and Garter, her family's local pub in East Dean, West Sussex, Aburrow explores themes of tradition, shared experiences, and the enduring importance of connection and conversation.

With a playful nod to her favourite snack, crisps, the exhibition blends nostalgia with a contemporary celebration of communal spaces. Drawing a parallel between the way pubs and art unite people, the installation reflects how a shared experience can spark conversation, foster support, and strengthen bonds-powerful elements that lie at the heart of community life.

A recent graduate of Bath Spa University (2023), Milly extends her heartfelt gratitude to all who have influenced her artistic journey so far. The Salty Crisp Pub is a tribute to the spirit of community that has shaped her creative path.
